We need your vote for Connecting Care Homes to win the People's Projects 2017!
LGNI are delighted to announce that our Big Lottery Awards for All project – Connecting Care Homes has been nominated for the People’s Projects Awards – to be in with the chance of winning £50,000 to scale up and take the projects for 5 other care homes across Northern Ireland. But to win we need your vote!!
The original project was piloted in Kirk House in East Belfast and to give you an idea of what the project looks like and what it will offer to other care homes if we are successful you can view our short fim on the page below. The project connects care homes to their local community through bringing local schools and youth groups together with residents of the care home to complete a range of projects and activities, from arts, fashion, music, crafts and reminiscence. The project also promotes dementia friendly communities through facilitating dementia awareness training for the younger participants in the project. The project, in its pilot stage, has already create genuine connections between the groups involved and friendships between generations and we would love the opportunity to roll out this project to more care homes across the province.
Public voting opens on Monday 20th March at 9am and our project will be featured on UTV in the coming week so watch out for us!
